The ABA Business Law Spring Meeting is the perfect place for law students to enhance their experience in law school and prepare for a career in business law. Whether you’re able to attend one day or all three days, the Meeting offers a variety of educational programs and networking opportunities for law students.
Law students who attend the Spring Meeting in-person are invited to participate in the Law Student Scholar Program, designed to help law students navigate Section Meetings and connect with practicing business lawyers to network and learn more about a career in business law!
Participants gain an enhanced law school experience, professional recognition, and additional networking experiences by completing a number of required meeting activities. Thursday afternoon is filled with law student focused programming. Start with lessons in leadership by attending Leadership Defined: A Fireside Chat with Nyea Sturman, Senior Vice President & General Counsel at the Orlando Magic from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM. Then from 3:00 - 4:00 PM, the A Day in the Life of a Business Lawyer panel provides an introduction for law students into the wide-ranging options of a career in business law. Panelists from different corners of the business law world will share what a day-in-the-life looks like and provide tips for law students interested in pursuing a similar career!
Immediately after the program, delve deeper at the Law Student Speed Networking event from 4:00 - 5:00 PM. This event connects law students with accomplished business law practitioners from across the country. From there you can go on to the Welcome Reception at 6:00 PM to continue networking. On Friday morning at 9:00 AM, join the Law Student Committee Meeting to hear more about the Section's law student offerings and provide feedback that will help us better serve students.
The Business Law Fall Meeting features over 50 high-quality CLE programs developed by business law experts with interactive Q&A opportunities.
Use the Young Lawyers filter under the Specialty Topics category to narrow down the find CLE programs that have been specially identified as introductory, overview, or basic level programming. You’ll also want to check out The Business Law Essentials CLE Track, which is a curated selection of CLE programs that cover fundamental topics across business law practice areas. The programs were designed to provide practice area updates, developments, and primers on key business law issues.
Check out the daily programs covering recent business law trends and developments and featuring top speakers. Held each day at 12:00 PM, you will not want to miss the excitement of attending these headline programs in-person!
Committee and Subcommittee Meetings are open to all attendees and are an excellent opportunity for any attendee to get involved with the work of our committees and subcommittees. Committees and subcommittees often have special projects and task forces that seek involvement of law students. These meetings also sometimes host substantive discussions covering specific business law topic areas.

In addition to the Law Student Speed Networking event on Thursday afternoon, receptions are another great way to continue learning about a career in business law and building your network. Networking at the Meeting kicks off with a Welcome Reception on Thursday evening. On Friday, stop by the Diversity Networking Reception and Nightcaps and Networking Reception.
